Fried egg anyone?! That’s exactly what All Star Burger is serving on one of their delicious burgers. Make My Day has some of your favorite breakfast items you love on a burger- tillamook cheese (okay maybe not this one), cage free fried egg, smoked bacon, skillet hash browns, red onion, ketchup jam and mayo, all sanwhiched between Texas toast! Talk about good! When I think of a good cheeseburger, I’m thinking gooey, cheesy, greasy, goodness. You know that burger that you’ll regret the next day. I love that All Star Burger uses natural, non-GMO ingredients in its menu items. They offer healthy burger options, salads, and drinks, such as wine and tasty shakes! Be sure to check out their menu!

Sea Salt Caramel Shake

Be sure to finish off your meal with one of their delicious hand-dipped Blue Bell ice cream shakes. I will eat anything that has sea salt caramel in it and the Sea Salt Caramel hand-dipped shake does not disappoint. It is smooth and creamy, not one of those shakes that require a spoon to enjoy. Its topped with whipped cream and, yes, pebbles. (Well that’s what I am going to assume!) I didn’t dare try to see if those were edible. Mental note- next time check! Be sure to check out their menu!

Ode to the donut! That’s exactly what Gourdoughs Public House is doing. Each tasty dish involves a donut; no matter if it’s an appetizer, entree, or dessert. So it’s only fitting that I enjoy my favorite fried treat at a restaurant that has been in business for the last 182 years.

Appetizer

I decided to go with the Big Cheez ($5.25). It was fried mozzarella wrapped in dough and deep fried, served with garlic butter. Talk about delicious!

Entree

Entree

I chose the Country Clucker ($12.75) as an entrée because it just sounded good. It was crispy fried chicken breast topped with a potato pancake, warm cream corn, and candied jalapenos- all served on a donut! Yeah, it was as good as it sounds.

Dessert

I chose the Salty Balls ($5.25). The Salty Balls were warm donut holes, covered with cream cheese icing, salted butter caramel sauce, and peanuts. Sweet, sugary goodness! They can hold the peanuts though.

My Review

Before I get into the food, I will say that like most popular Austin restaurants, it is very busy. Though I was seated quickly, the wait for my food was rather long. I chucked that up to the freshness of the meal. Now on to the food, each dish was as good as the next. The portions were huge. I could not finish it all. I thought that the donut on the Country Clucker would take away from the meal, but it was awesome and added a unique taste to the meal. As we all know, chicken breast is normally dry, but this was fried perfectly with the right amount of crispiness, seasoned well, and juicy. Not much needs to be said about dessert, it was scrumptious.

Despite the food taking some time to make it to my table, the service was good and the food was amazing. I recommend Gourdoughs Public House to anyone looking to indulge in Austin’s unique food scene. Visit Gourdoughs to learn more about their unique menu, locations, and online shop.

Overall Rating: 4.5

Food: 5 (Awesome!)

Service: 4.5 (Took an hour to get my entree)

Establishment: 4.5 (Quite cramped/only two single bathrooms- the wait was rather long)
