My Thoughts:<\/h2>\n

I am such a huge fan of Yaa after her first book, Homegoing. So it\u2019s only natural that Transcendent Kingdom made my TBR list as a must read. Though I enjoyed the book, I longed for more. More from Gifty as she comes into her realization and grows, well transcends.<\/div>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

The story reminds me of most black and brown families. Major disconnect between parents and children. The absence of the father. The sacrifice of the mother. The yearning from the children. Be ready to experience mental illness, drug addiction, death, grief, poverty, religion, family dysfunction, and racism and discrimination.<\/div>\n

All in all, still a great read in my book.<\/div>\n
