All it takes is that quiet conversation within to put you on your path to beginning your own self-love journey. If you are like me with years of putting others or things ahead of my own feelings, the journey is almost like a habit. 

Something that takes constant work and dedication. Breaking old thought processes, actions, and emotions that kept us in the constant bubble of neglecting the very person we should always protect…me! 

Back in June of last year, I wrote a post about my quest for loving myself more and putting me first. Promising myself that I would remain fearless and work towards becoming a better version of myself. One that loves me. Truly loves me. 

It took me a year to attempt to continue on with my journey. Plagued with life’s highs and lows. Distractions that have kept me from continually seeking to love myself in everything that I do. Life is fickle like that, I guess. 

What is self-love?

If you were to look up the definition of self-love, you would find some degree of the following:

• Proper regard for and attention to one’s own happiness or well being
• Inflated love of or pride in one self (narcissistic vibes)

In my opinion, self-love is simply being the best version of yourself, no matter what. No matter what people or society as whole says. Waking up each morning, working towards that goal. Picking up the pieces and continuing on even if there is a day where judgments are coming from every angle. 

Its accepting who you are, where you are. Finding comfort in knowing that it’s okay – that not every day will be an okay day. Not every choice will be the right choice. Fear is necessary part of life and one of life’s greatest teachers. 

Self-love is something that requires effort and continuous dedication. A mindset shift to something greater. So what better way to begin than with some quotes that inspire self-love within.
