2018 is definitely my year of yes! Yes to a lot of things in my life, most importantly, yes to travel. Booking flights on a whim. Traveling just cause. Working toward my ultimate goal of visiting every continent and enjoying as many countries as I can. 2018 is just the beginning. Here is my list of “definite” and “I hope so” travel plans of 2018.
Its been years since I have been to Mardi Gras in my hometown. This year I plan on taking in the full experience that I did when I was child. Parades, Parades, and more Parades! Some of my must see parades are: Endymion, Bacchus, Orpheus, Zulu, and Rex.
This is one trip I am looking forward to the most. All of my family on my mom’s side is from the Caribeean. Trinidad to be exact. 2018 is the year my family is going to take a trip to where it all started over a hundred years ago. The last time my mom has been home was when she was a teenager. For many of the kids, it will be our first time going. You can only image how geeked I am! Im so excited! (In my Austin Powers voice!)
Carnival is something unique to Caribbean culture. It is something about the culture, the music, and the food. It seeps into your soul and takes ahold of you. You can’t help but chup and whine down the street. After doing some research, I was surprised to see how many U.S. cities have their own form of Caribbean carnival. Especially when you hear of the awesome carnivals in the Caribbean.
In 2016, I started the annual tradition of traveling some place I have never been (2016 – Chicago). This year I am trying to cruise Castaway Cay. I’ll be able to keep the tradition going and cross off my bucketlist goal of going on a cruise. Of which, I’ll admit I am terrified of doing. Castaway Cay looks beautiful and the cruise is only 3 days. A nice way to get my feet wet with cruising and determine if its for me.
I don’t know if its the kid in me, but I definitely hope to make it back to Disney this year. For Memorial Day weekend, I enjoyed my first Disney experience ever with some family members. And because I like to travel solo, I want to take my time exploring the parks at my own pace. The parks on my list are Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Especially, Pandora- The World of Avatar. Trying all of the food I want. Yes, I am greedy. I mean… a foodie!
Arizona is such a beautiful place to me. Filled with such beautiful and unique landscapes and scenery. Such as the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and Havasu Falls. My plan is to rent a vehicle and road trip through the state crossing major bucketlist lists off on this trip as I go.
Napa Valley is definitely one of must visit places. From its numerous wineries and award winning cusine to awesome views and things to do, San Fransico and Napa Valley has something for everyone. I am really interested in the Food and Wine event taking place the 1st weekend in November. A weekend full of food and wine… yes please!
