This last week has been something for the books. The merger (aka hostile takeover) that my company is going through is finalizing in the next coming weeks. It has been very overwhelming as this is my first time being apart of a merger/acquisition. Their first order of business is to lay people off in our headquarters and a layer of supervisors. Most of us have been there for a very long time and it’s been quite nerve wracking because you are unsure if you are going to be on the chopping block. I’m curious about the direction they will lead us and nervous about my potential future.
On the other hand, this year has been really slow in terms of traveling. I mean really slow, so far I have been to Washington D.C., Baltimore, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and New York. I figure once I am finished with school I can enjoy a nice staycation at a nearby resort and begin planning a vacation for my birthday in November. I have my sights on San Francisco or Trinidad & Tobago – with Trinidad being the strongest contender.

Reads
I am such a huge fan of Angie Thomas, especially after reading The Hate that You Give. She a YA author that writes about real world issues plaguing both young and old brown skin individuals. I wrapped up On the Come Up this past week as I continue my quest to read at least one book a week.

Eats
Tried Lula’s Distillery for brunch in New Orleans with my female empowerment group, Sisterhood for the Soul. Had the Boudin Egg rolls and the Chicken and Biscuits topped with Tasso gravy. Talk about delicious!!!
Checked out a new spot not far called The Pickle House. I can honestly say that will probably be my 1st and last time eating there. Order the chicken and waffles for lunch. The waffle fell apart and the tenders needed more batter and wasn’t fried long enough. The employees were really nice.
